Get into the festive mood. A selection of some great 2019 Christmas commercials.

I have selected some of Christmas' best. As always most are made in Britain. These are great times to air some really lengthy ads in the age of 5 seconds pre-rolls, display ads and banners.

M&S Go Jumpers for Christmas: a YouTube hit, signature dance clip. My personal favourite. Not too corny and no cliches (not even the music). Definitely like the moves.

Aldi Christmas: "Let me entertain you" with Robbie Williams. Very entertaining circus setting, with lots of YouTube views. Brussels (Russell) Sprouts are the bad guys, is this a coincidence Aldi?

Tesco Christmas: Back to the Future and Dickens all mixed up. The Tesco Delivery Man stars in past and present scenes, a bit disappointing.

Asda Let's make Christmas Extra Special. Yuletide cliches and kids capturing the Northern Light. Lots of magic. Cinema version, cinema script. Magic in abundance.

Argos Christmas Advert 2019, the Book of Dreams. Score: "Don't you forget about me". Great movie, about a grown up dad being the kid he always wanted to be. He's getting exited by a catalogue, Jim Kerr is present on a TV. Really love this ad. High energy. Watch it till the end.

Visa Christmas Advert 2019 Soundtrack is Queen's "Somebody to Love". Most actors work and sing in old run down stores and cafes. Hardly any customers in sight. They clearly aren't happy and hence, looking for love..... (real life Britain?). Visa invites people to shop on High Street, skipping e-commerce. The only commercial with a statement.

Apple's Holiday movie is called the Surprise. Very good commercial, kind of slice of life. A real family heading over to a grandparent at the other side of the country. Meanwhile Apple's iPad is making the journey and the stay very memorable. Tearjerker.

Very.co.uk Christmas Advert 2019. Get more out of giving. Animation. People helping a lone old man, which is always a successful hit. Kind of corny, but okay.

Selfridges: Future Fantasy, a Christmas for Modern Times. Thoroughly modern, mixed with opulence. Very different from the pack. Voice over really irritates, but she's probably a fashionista. This is Selfridges: they can afford it. Most women have white hair, due to Christmas?

Burberry What is Love, with a guest appearance of Carla Bruni. More a catwalk scene with some celebs dressing up and doing flashy dance moves. Hardly anybody is laughing or smiling. The ad asks: "what is love?". Totally missed the answer.

John Lewis and Waitrose Christmas 2019 Advert: Shrek like feel, with Edgar (kind of dragon) and a little girl bonding. Iconic. Great movie and funny.

Sainsbury's Christmas: Nicholas the Sweep. This ad had to beat the smashing 2018 one and that's difficult. Dickens all over, from start to finish, which really helps. Certainly in Britain.

Amazon Christmas 2019. "Everybody Needs Somebody to Love". Iconic Amazon delivery boxes, with arrow, are singing in this ad. Amazon delivery woman is finally coming home at the end of the clip, like Tesco's. Would have presumed more love and less carton.

Retail Gazette sums it all up and updates quite frequently. Here are some insights and updates on views and engagement from Search Engine Journal.
